Write a comment: The method
- Read the task and everything that goes with it 1 or 2 times carefully.
- Write down everything that comes to your mind.
- Make yourself clear exactly what your comment is about.
- Search for the meta data of the thesis or event (Who says what?, …)
- Start writing.
? Write a comment: The method
A n English Comment is a commentary on an event, usually a thesis. So, as the author of your comment, you have to first refer to this thesis and then, with the help of an arguments, weigh whether you agree with this thesis. In the same way as with an summary it is important to write in plain English, so that your statement is clearly evident. Furthermore, it is important to remember to write continuously in the simple present. However, before you start writing your comment, you should think about an introduction to your comment.
1️⃣ English Comment: Introduction
T he introduction of an English comment will first mention the thesis about which your comment will be based. This is followed by a rhetorical question for reading, “Is this thesis correct?”.
An example sentence:
NOWADAYS MANY PEOPLE THINK/BELIEVE THAT… . IS THAT RIGHT?
- think/believe = Here you can choose what you like better
- … = Is the central thesis about what your Comment is all about.

2️⃣ English Comment: main part
I n the main part of your comment, you should first name a pro and a contra argument of the thesis and then say your first opinion. This is then followed by a few other arguments that support your initial opinion. You should be careful to always give a few examples. So that your arguments are vivid and more powerful.

3️⃣ Comment conclusion
I n the final part of your comments, you should summarize the arguments first, which is the best way to show your conclusion. In your last sentence, you have to once again refer to the thesis mentioned at the beginning in order to close the arc within your text.
